I love it when bands, or band members do side projects. It gives them license to try something completely different and experiment a little when things get too stale. Thom Yorke of Radiohead has a couple of side projects as does Jack White of the White Stripes. The sounds they create with their side projects are quite different and are a breath of fresh air once in a while.
